Traffic Warrants in Warren County
A traffic warrant is court process tied to a citation or infraction case. It usually follows a missed date. Warren County publishes no separate traffic-warrant roster or definition, so the docket entry itself controls. A failure to appear, or FTA, means the person skipped a required setting, and the court may have issued warrant process in response. Every documented local traffic matter runs through Warren Circuit Court, the county's sole trial court. The Clerk keeps the records and takes official payments. The Sheriff confirms whether a law-enforcement warrant record stays active. This is a court-record search, not a driving-record search.
Traffic Cases Use Warren Code 86C01
Cause numbers here carry the prefix 86C01. That prefix marks Warren Circuit Court. It also keeps the case distinct from a citation number or a payment confirmation, so start with the number printed on your citation or notice. If you don't have it, search by party name and narrow things down with first name, middle name, and date of birth where the public interface allows. The court's Find Case and Hearing page links to MyCase and a limited hearing calendar. MyCase's All, Open, and Closed choices describe cases, never warrants. The calendar reaches only seven days back and four weeks forward. Neither tool proves a Warren County traffic warrant active or recalled.
How to Check for a Traffic Warrant
Several routes answer different parts of a Warren County warrant check. There is no city-court portal, warrant hotline, or statewide public criminal-warrant database to take their place.
- Search MyCase by citation, cause number, or party name and select Warren Circuit Court.
- Review events for a missed appearance, FTA, warrant order, judgment, payment, or new setting.
- Call the Warren County Clerk at (765) 762-3510 or Circuit Court at (765) 762-3604 and ask what court action is required.
- If staff confirms a warrant, call the Sheriff at (765) 764-4367 for its law-enforcement status and intake instructions.
- For a missing public record, request the current County Request for Public Records Form from the Auditor under Warren Code ยง37.05.
Call before you visit. Warren County publishes no traffic-warrant counter, walk-in recall window, direct email, fax route, or surrender rule.
Warren Traffic Warrant Payment Route
The Warren County Clerk page points ticket-cost and payment questions to Indiana's official payment lookup. The court's Pay Fees page sends traffic-ticket and infraction-deferral fees through the Clerk's route, while infraction deferral and pretrial-diversion questions belong to the Prosecuting Attorney. The state interface is a citation and case lookup. It shows no warrant-status field and promises no recall. It lists no Warren County balance table and no warrant-lift form, so ask the Clerk whether the obligation is eligible before you pay anything.
Payment rule: A receipt proves a payment, not that a judge recalled a warrant or the Sheriff updated its record.
What a Warren County Traffic Warrant Shows
Public information may sit in different places. The citation, the case events, the financial record, and the warrant order can each hold a piece of a Warren County traffic matter. Use the actual record. Don't assume every field appears on one screen.
| Citation or cause | The ticket number or Warren identifier such as 86C01. |
|---|---|
| Case and offense | The infraction or traffic allegation and filing details. |
| Missed setting | The hearing date and an FTA or nonappearance entry, if public. |
| Judicial action | A warrant, new setting, judgment, recall, or other order. |
| Financial record | Costs, payments, balance, or deferral information when shown. |
| Current status | Active, served, or recalled status requiring Court and Sheriff confirmation. |
Sealed, juvenile, expunged, and temporarily excluded records may not appear in Warren County lookups, so a no-result search is not a clearance certificate.
Warren Traffic Warrants and eCWS
Indiana's eCWS system lets officers create citations and warnings. Warren County Sheriff and West Lebanon Police are listed users. That participation creates no public traffic-warrant database. The state does run separate tax-warrant tools, though, and the official tax-warrant explanation shows how that program works:

A tax warrant is a civil lien collection record. It is not a criminal arrest warrant or a traffic FTA lookup. Searching the tax system cannot tell you whether Warren Circuit Court issued traffic process.
Paying or Lifting a Traffic Warrant
Ask the Clerk whether payment is allowed and whether a new hearing or separate court order is needed. Ask the Court whether an FTA or warrant exists, what recall takes, and whether counsel should file anything. If one was issued, ask the Warren County Sheriff how its record will be updated. Payment alone may not end it.
- Confirm the case, balance, missed date, and exact warrant entry.
- Obtain current payment, appearance, bond, or recall directions from the Court.
- Use the official payment route only when the Clerk confirms eligibility.
- Attend the new setting or complete any other ordered step.
- Verify the recall with both Court and Sheriff, then keep the order and receipt.
Do not assume clearance: A paid balance or a Closed case label does not by itself prove a traffic warrant was lifted.
No Warren Municipal Traffic Warrant Court
Warren County has one local trial court. The current Indiana directory names Warren Circuit Court, and no separate municipal court appears in Williamsport, West Lebanon, Pine Village, or State Line City. Town-government contacts are not court clerks and cannot confirm a Circuit Court warrant. The Williamsport municipal page shows the difference:

Its town meetings and civic contacts form no traffic court, payment counter, or warrant lookup. Residents of all four towns use the same Warren County route.
Traffic Warrants, FTA, and License Holds
Don't collapse the terms into one claim. Warren County sources confirm court FTA process, but they do not confirm an automatic license hold for every missed citation.
| Term | What It Means Here | Where to Confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic case | The court file for an infraction or ticket. | MyCase and Clerk. |
| FTA | A failure-to-appear event that may prompt court process. | Circuit Court docket and staff. |
| Traffic warrant | A judicial order tied to the case. | Court and Sheriff. |
| License hold | Not confirmed in Warren official sources for this workflow. | Ask the court and relevant state agency about the exact case. |
Indiana posts no public OmniBase-style criminal FTA portal. Don't infer a license hold from an eCWS listing or a payment screen in Warren County.
After a Missed Warren Traffic Warrant Date
Call the Warren County Clerk with your citation and cause number in hand. Ask if the docket shows an FTA or a warrant. Ask whether a new court date is needed, and whether payment can satisfy the obligation. Then ask the Sheriff to confirm any law-enforcement record tied to the case. If getting to court is the problem, Warren County offers help. The Warren/Fountain Circuit Courts' Free Lift program can transport eligible residents to hearings or probation appointments. Know what it is not, though. Free Lift is a ride, not legal help. It cannot recall a warrant, set bond, or give advice. No amnesty event, warrant clinic, mobile clearing program, or safe-surrender campaign runs in Warren County right now. Fine instructions from 2017 are historical and should not be relied on for current fees. The Clerk and the signed order in your case control the actual terms. If a record is not online, send a narrow APRA request to the County Auditor. Indiana APRA does not force the county to build a new warrant list, and access exceptions still guard sealed, juvenile, and investigative material.
